About Me

I approach each person with the belief that the body is born with tremendous self-healing potential, and that healing comes from within. I have learned that no two sessions are alike. Everyone has their own set of experiences and a unique relationship to their body which affects their self care and needs. Therefore, I create a safe environment for people to discover their bodies, their heart's deepest longing, and I customize each session to meet the individual's needs. I believe that yoga has the power to transform lives, one breath at a time.   I incorporate a wide variety of techniques in my sessions and classes, including mindful movement, breath work,  massage therapy, reiki energy work, mudras, sound therapy, aromatherapy,  guided meditation and relaxation, personal growth and development exercises, meal planning and more.

“The best way out is always through.” Robert Frost.

I came to yoga first after having chronic low back pain and have been practicing yoga for over ten years.  I have a consistent, mindful yoga practice that has provided so many benefits on my own healing journey through lyme disease, anxiety and heavy metal toxicity.  It was especially during the challenges of chronic illness that I drew from the ancient healing system of yoga to reduce and manage symptoms and shift my attitude around suffering. I've adopted a holistic approach to my own recovery incorporating yoga and meditation, massage therapy, nutrition and herbs, acupuncture, chiropractic care and homeopathy. I am tremendously grateful for my teachers and this practice.  I consider myself a lifelong student of yoga.

I am currently a Yoga Therapist in-Training, studying in a rigorous 800 hour teacher training program through Inner Peace Yoga Therapy.  I am a graduate of The Soma Institute for Clinical Massage Therapy in Chicago and a certified Holistic Health Coach through the Integrative Institute for Nutrition in New York.  I completed my 200 Hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at Reflections Yoga Center in Homewood, IL and my 500 Hour Advanced Teacher Training at Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago, IL.  I am a certified Trauma Informed Yoga Instructor through Yoga to Transform Trauma in Chicago, IL.  I obtained my Reiki Master certification through Insight Awareness in Homewood, IL.

As a massage therapist, I utilize conventional treatments including Trigger Point Therapy and Deep Tissue Massage and incorporate Reiki Energy Healing as it is a gentle and stress-relieving modality. I am also trained in Neuromuscular Therapy, Positional Release Therapy, Myofascial Release, Tui Na, and tend to use a combination of all of these tools to evaluate and treat biomechanical dysfunction to help others meet their goals of pain and stress relief, improved performance, optimal health and wellness.

When I'm not working with clients, planning my classes and workshops or teaching yoga, you can find me outdoors!  I grew up in Maine and could spend every day outside.  I love to hike with my hubby and two dogs, camp, swim, soak up the sun, cook, explore different yoga and meditation classes with friends, read and write with a cup of coffee or tea or catch a movie.
